A Group known as Peace Movement (PM) on Sunday called on Gov. Ahmed Ododo of Kogi to look into leadership crisis in the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Kabba-Bunu Local Government Area of the State.
The group, in a statement issued in Lokoja and signed by Comrade Joseph Tolu, said that Kabba-Bunu LGA is one of the stronghold of the APC, yet notable party leaders in the area are not united.
Tolu lamented that the issue of political leadership of the party has generated a serious crisis and disaffection among members of the party.
According to him, the posture of the State Commissioner for Education, Hon. Wemi Jones as leader of the party in the area does not go down well with the people.
“This is because in Kabba-Bunu today, we have strong men in the likes of Security Adviser, Commander Jerry Omodara (rtd), former member of Kogi State House of Assembly, Alfred Bello, former speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly, Prince Matthew Kolawole, Hon. Duro Meseko, Segun Olobatoke, Ben Olowodola, Hon Jethro Funsho Oni, Mr Adebanji David Jimoh and Hon Nathaniel Ojo Taiwo
“Yet Jones is claiming he’s the leader of the party in the area. This is the reason why we are calling on our governor to act fast to put everything in order in Kabba-Bunu LGA
“I fact, Gov Ododo is doing well and we don’t want any individual to rubbish his government.
“We, the people of Kabba-Bunu, will always follow the direction of the governor anytime, any day and anywhere.
“We were informed by those very close to the education commissioner that he wanted to contest for House of Representative, but he said he may likely succeed Ododo after his tenure.
“This is somebody that when APC flagged off local government council campaign election he was not present, yet he still calls himself the leader of the party.
“We may not be wrong to say that Jones has not contributed much to the party or help anyone, yet he still believes that the people will accept him as their leader,” he said.
Tolu, however, called on the governor to call for Kabba-Bunu APC stakeholders to a round table meeting to finally put the issue at rest.
