Mrs. Seyi Ibuoye, the Executive Director of Pataki Legacy Foundation, a non-governmental organization (NGO), has announced that the organization empowered 29 women on rights and leadership in the workplace.
Ibuoye said that the one-day empowerment meeting, held on Sunday in Jos, was to educate participants on their rights and inspire them through the stories of other women.
“The participants were brought together to encourage networking among like-minded professionals,” she said.
She said that women often navigate a landscape filled with both opportunities and challenges, and the meeting sought to equip them with the tools needed to excel in their respective careers.
“We encourage women to address gender bias and navigate career growth in male-dominated industries.
“This initiative will empower women to become more aware of their rights and better equipped to advocate for themselves, “ she said.
Speaking also at the event, the NGO’s Co-founder, Miss Nander Ndam, emphasized the importance of fostering a supportive community for women in the workforce.
Ndam led an interactive session, encouraging participants to network and share experiences and ideas that would help them achieve their professional goals.
Several participants expressed that the empowerment program came at the right time, inspiring them to build synergies and network with other women to achieve their goals.
Tapmun Polycarp, a pharmacist, said she had learned the importance of negotiating and recognizing her worth in a male-dominated workplace.
Sekyen Phinehas said that she no longer feels afraid to speak up when uncomfortable with decisions that might affect her in the workplace.
Seyelnen Molwus, a lawyer, commended the NGO for the initiative, thanking them for teaching women how to negotiate salaries during employment. NAN
