Aten Community In Plateau Lauds Mutfwang’s Peace Efforts

The Aten people of Ganawuri in Riyom Local Government Area (LGA) have commended the Plateau Governor, Barrister Caleb Mutfwang, for his efforts in restoring peace in the state.

Prof. Clement Chup, President, Aten Development Association, gave the commendation at the Aten’s annual Wura Dagarang cultural festival, themed: “Reinventing the Spirit of Aten Unity and Core Values.“

Chup said that this year’s festival was made possible due to the prevailing peace and security in the state.

Yhe president said the Wuru Dagarang festival, celebrated annually by the Aten people, serves as a platform to showcase its rich cultural heritage and remember the community’s relocation to Ganawuri plain from the hills in the 1920s due to a tsetse fly infestation.

He, however, appealed to the state government for more interventions in the community and the state at large so as to address youths unemployment.

Rev.Yusuf Bagu, the Executive Secretary, Plateau Christian Pilgrim’s Board , who delivered the keynote address, urged the Aten people to emulate and imbibe the virtues of wisdom, resilience to build a brighter Aten generation.

Bagu, lamented the erosion of Aten core values of hard work, resilience, and integrity and called for a revival of these principles to restore dignity and prosperity to their community.

In her goodwill message, Plateau’s deputy governor Josephine Piyo, said the Aten annual festival was a symbol of the Aten people’s unwavering commitment to their heritage.

Piyo, assured the community of the current administration’s dedication to delivering democratic dividends to the people.

She said the reconstruction of the Ganawuri-Hoss road, wasincluded in the 2025 budget.

The Chairman of the occasion, Senator Pam Mwadkon, represented by Da Rwang Datok, encouraged the Aten people to leverage their wealth of experience to foster community growth.

The Ata ‘a Aten of Ganawuri, his Royal Majesty Yakubu Chaimang, expressed gratitude to God for preserving his people and urged them to remain security-conscious in view of prevailing security challenges. (ephemeralnews.com.ng)
