The Kogi State Police Command says it has taken a significant step towards fostering a peaceful and well-coordinated environment for community engagement in the State.
Mr. Miller Dantawaye, State Commissioner of Police, made the remark on Thursday, when he received a delegation from the Civil Society Organisation, led by its Chairman, Ambassador Idris Muraina, in his office.
The commissioner said that the visit was aimed to strengthen collaboration between the police and the CSOs in the state.
He emphasized the importance of partnerships in fostering peace and addressing societal challenges.
Dantawaye commended the CSO members for their commitment to fostering dialogue and ensuring civil society organizations operate within a structured and peaceful framework.
He reiterated the Command’s commitment to maintaining law and order while encouraging open communication with community stakeholders.
Amb. Muraina highlighted the integration of community networks into the People-Oriented Policing and Development Management Program, which plays a crucial role in maintaining harmony and facilitating dialogue between stakeholders.
He also emphasized the importance of responsible advocacy, ensuring protests and public demonstrations remain peaceful and constructive.
“This collaboration is expected to have a positive impact on the community, fostering a safer and more harmonious environment for all.
“This is because we both agreed to enhance cooperation in addressing security concerns and supporting initiatives that promote public safety and social stability, ” he said.
However, the visit concluded with a commitment from both sides to continue working together in promoting peace, security, and development of Kogi. (ephemeralnews.com.ng)
