The Akwa Ibom State Police Command arrested a 42 year-old man Victor Okoh, for the alleged gruesome murder of his wife, Victoria Okoh, 38, at their residence in Oron Local Government Area of the State.
A statement issued in Uyo on Monday by the Command’s Spokesman, DSP Timfon John, said the man, Victor Okoh, had at early morning of Monday, allegedly macheted his with a cutlass.
John said that operatives of the Command swiftly responded to a distress call from concerned residents at about 05:20a.m.only to discover the mutilated body of the deceased lying outside the house she shared with Okoh, her husband.
He said that preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect had allegedly attacked his wife with a machete over accusations of infidelity.
According to him, reports indicated that the suspect was hiding in the ceiling of the house in an attempt to evade arrest but the operatives tactically secured the building, forced entry, and successfully apprehended him.

“The corpse has been deposited at the General Hospital Morgue for an autopsy, while the suspect remains in police custody as investigations continues,” he said.
John quoted the Commissioner of Police, Alhaji Baba Mohammed-Azare, as condemning the act in its entirety.
While assuring the public that justice will take its full course, he further warned against all forms of domestic violence and called on residents to seek lawful means of resolving disputes rather than resorting to violence.
“The Command remains committed to ensuring the safety of all citizens and urges the public to promptly report any suspicious activities to the nearest police formation,” he said. (ephemeralnews.com.ng)
