The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has called on pensioners in Akwa Ibom to use their wealth of experience in the public sector to support government policies.
The Agency urged them to serve as a think-tank capable of making useful inputs into governance for the betterment of all Nigerians.
The State Director of NOA, Mr Mkpoutom Mkpoutom, made call in Uyo on Tuesday during the inauguration of an eleven – man EXCO of the Nigerian Union of Pensioners, Contributory Pension Scheme sector.
Mkpoutom, represented by a director in the agency, Dr Udeme Peter, said that NOA would create adequate awareness across the 31 local government areas of the state for all retired workers in government employ to identify with the scheme.
He urged the new executive to be focused and committed to the welfare of the body by being transparent and accountable in their actions.
“As retired leaders from various ministries, department and agencies, be responsible and accountable to your members.
“You should live above board and remember that your conducts will bring those still in service to join the union, when they have retired,” he said.
He congratulated them for having positive thought that would improve their livelihood and contribute to the growth of the nation.
In his remarks, the National Chairman of the body, Sylva Nwaiwu, thanked President Bola Tinubu for increasing Pensioners’ stipends.
Nwaiwu appealed to the President for speedy implementation of the payment.

Also, Akamba Awah, the event’s charman, urged executive to always adopt a civil approach in demanding better conditions for all its members.
Awah, a retired labour leader commended them for constituting a formidable front for the welfare and wellbeing of pensioners in the state. NAN
