Mr Clement Jimbo, the member representing Abak/Etim and Ekpo/Ika constituencies in the National Assembly, says President Bola Tinubu is reviving the economy through courageous implementation of policies.
Jimbo made the statement in Uyo on Tuesday while speaking to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on the president’s performance after two years in office.
He said that the president’s bold declaration to remove subsidy had repositioned the economy, saying,”the evidences are obvious”
“By that decision, states now have more money to implement projects and provide other democracy dividends for the people,” he said
The lawmaker said that because of the wellbeing of Nigerians, Tinubu had boldly taken steps that his predecessors feared to take.
“Good leaders are known by the decisions they take, and the outcomes of such the decisions.
Jimbo listed the establishment of Dangote Refinery and the availability of petroleum products in the country as some of the benefits of Tinubu’s bold policy initiatives.
“Dangote Refinery has a capacity of over 650,000 barrels per day, for the first time in a long while, Nigeria now exports refined petroleum products.
“This is a feat that appeared unrealistic in this country before the advent of subsidy removal,” he said.
Speaking on security, he said that the president had demonstrated serious willingness to tackle insecurity in any part of the country.
He commended Tinubu for engaging with the governors, and securing their collective agreement on the need to establish state policing.
“The president has given the governors his commitment. And the legal framework for state policing is ongoing at the national assembly,” he said.
Jimbo expressed optimism that state policing would be helpful in tackling crime and insecurity in the country if well-implemented.
He further said that the increase in the defence budget was a demonstration of the president’s commitment to the fight against insecurity. NAN
