Police Arrest 54 Suspected Kidnappers. Armed Robbers, Others in A’Ibom

The A’Ibom State Police Command has reportedly arrested 54 suspected kidnappers, Armed Robbers and Cultists among others in the State in the last one month.

The Commissioner of Police, Alhaji Baba Azare, made the disclosure during a news conference held at the state command in uyo on Thursday.

The CP gave the statistics of the 54 arrested suspects to include: Six suspected armed robbers, seven suspected kidnappers, 30 suspected cultists, six Suspected vandals, Four suspected burglars and one suspected murderer.

According to him. three kidnap victims wete rescued and a total number of 50 Arms/Ammunition were recovered during the period under review.

Azare said: “Over the past month, the Akwa Ibom State Police Command has demonstrated total commitment to policing with integrity, strategy, and resolve.

“We have dismantled cult cells, crushed burglary syndicates, thwarted kidnappers, repelled pirates, and intercepted vandals and robbers. Let this serve as a clear message: Akwa Ibom is no haven for criminals.

“This command under my watch will continue to remain tough, smart, and focused. Any individual or group intent on threatening the peace of this peaceful and united State should know that we are watching, and we will strike decisively.”

He further disclosed the arms and properties seized to include; 2 double barrel cut to size locally made gun, 1 incomplete long gun, 3 single barrel/cut-to-size guns recovered , 18 locally made pistols, and 4 ammunitions.

Others are 8 empty cartridges recovered , 14 live cartridges, 2 vehicles and 2 Long iron pipes.

Azare used the occasion to once again urge the public to continue to provide the police actionable information.

He pledged to consolidate the gains of the feat recorded to deepen community trust in the force. ( ephemeralnews.com.ng)
