Immediate former President Muhammadu Buhari is dead.

Buhari’s Spokesman, Garba Shehu in a tweet on his official X formerly Twitter page, confirmed his death on Sunday.

The twit reads; “INNA LILLAHI WA INNA ILAIHIRRAJIUUN, the family of the former president has announced the passing on of the former president, Muhammadu Buhari, in a clinic in London.

“May Allah accept him in Aljannatul Firdaus, Amin.”

Meanwhile President Bola Tinubu also confirmed the death of former President Muhammadu Buhari, who died in London on Saturday at about 4:30 p.m. after a long illness.

Mr Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, made the announcement I. A statement

“President Tinubu has spoken with Mrs. Aisha Buhari, the former president’s widow, and offered his deep condolences,” Onanuga said.

Tinubu has directed Vice President Kashim Shettima to travel to the UK to accompany Buhari’s body back to Nigeria, ” he said.

Onanuga further disclosed that President Tinubu has also ordered Vice President Kashim Shettima to proceed to the United Kingdom to accompany President Muhammadu Buhari’s corpse back to Nigeria.

He said the president has also directed that national flags be flown at half-staff.

“President Tinubu has ordered flags at half-staff as a mark of respect for the departed leader,” Onanuga stated.

Buhari led the country as a military ruler from January 1984 to August 1985 and returned as an elected president in 2015. He was re-elected in 2019.
