Dr (Mrs) Folashade Ayoade, Secretary to the Government of Kogi State (SGS), on Saturday tasked parents with the training and educational pursuit of children against the ills of social vices.
Ayoads gave the advice on the occasion of Prize and Speech Giving Day of Celebrity International School Lokoja.
The SGS said that availing children with good education helps in shaping their future, especially in fulfilling their God-given divine purposes in life.
She said that given the societal immorality ravaging nations, there was the need for parents to watch against cultism, illicit drugs, examination malpractices and yahoo yahoo plus.
According to her, raising children properly is rewarding, even before God, who declares that they (children) are His inheritance.
Pst. (Dr). Halidu Abraham, Special Guest of Honour and General Overseer (GO) of Revival House Church, Lokoja, said that children’s training is key to the fulfilment of their dreams and contribution to nation building.
The cleric, who noted that training and educating children was full of challenges, charged parents to pay the price and sacrifice for their children no matter what it takes.
He said that each child God brought into the world is for a purpose, adding that parents have a duty to ensure that they fulfil those purposes.
“Only through perseverance and sacrifice can parents painstakingly give their children the necessary training and education for them to fulfil their dreams in life,” he said.
Mr Segun Salami, Chairman, Parents Teachers Association (PTA), commended his fellow parents for their sacrifices and pains at ensuring that children receive the desired education and training in Celebrity International School.
The school’s proprietor, Dr Patrick Aminu, commended the parents and staffers for their contributions and support in nurturing the students and pupils to the levels they are in the school.
He said as a proprietor, he would do all he could to raise the standard of the school for the benefit of the students, parents and the country at large.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the occasion was climaxed with the award of prizes to excelling students and the launching of the school’s magazine.
Those who graduated from the school established in 2017 include
18 SS3 students, 20 JSS3 and 29 Nursery II pupils. NAN
