Baba Azare, the Commissioner of Police in Akwa Ibom, says the police is fully committed to implementing polices that will promote the wellbeing of retired officers.
Azare made the statement in Uyo on Wednesday when the National Association of Retired Police Officers of Nigeria (NARPON), Akwa Ibom Chapter, visited him.
He said that the Inspector-General of Police was totally committed to the welfare of retired officers and their families.
The police commissioner said that the police command in Akwa Ibom would continue to do its part towards supporting the existence of NARPON in the state.
Azare commended the body for adopting dialogue in seeking redress to challenges being faced by retired police officers.
“I want to sincerely thank you for the good relationship you have cultivated with serving police officers in Akwa Ibom.
“While others are protesting in the streets, you chose dialogue as a way of seeking solutions to your challenges, this is commendable,” he said.
He promised that the command would facilitate the donation of land to build the association’s meeting hall.
Earlier, the Chairman, Anselem Eyo, commended the command for its proactive approach in tackling crime in the state.
Eyo said that the association was willing to partner the command through intelligence sharing to tackle crime and violence. NAN
