The All Progressives Congress (APC) on Thursday chose Prof Nentawe Yilwatda, from Plateau, as its new National Chairman.
Chairman of the Progressive Governors and Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodima, raised the motion to appoint the Humanitarian minister as Chairman and was seconded by Speaker, House of Representatives, Abba Tajudeen
The 56 year old Yilwatda, who is the current humanitarian affairs minister, was selected at the ongoing APC NEC meeting holding Abuja.
He was immediately sworn in.
Yilwatda took over from Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, who stepped down recently due to health challenges.
He was once a university lecturer and Plateau APC gubernatorial candidate during 2023 general elections.
His selection follows an agreement reached during a late-night meeting in Abuja between President Bola Tinubu and APC governors.
