The Kogi Government has reaffirmed its commitment to providing infrastructural development across the state.
The Commissioner for Works, Mr Mohammed Yusuf, made this known during a media tour of projects in Mopa, which are currently undergoing reconstruction.
The Commissioner said that Gov. Ahmed Ododo’s rural road development project would cut across the 21 local government areas of the state.
He said the rehabilitation of a 4-kilometre road in Mopa LGA had been completed, while the remaining 6 kilometers would be completed after the rainy season.
The Commissioner for information, Mr Kingsley Famwo, said the rural people in the state were now feeling the impact of government through government’s concentration on rural projects.
Fanwo commended the good job done by the state ministry of works in collaboration with Kogi State Road Management Agency (KOGORMA).
He explained that the state government did not award the contract for the rehabilitation of the road to contractors in order to reduce cost.
The commissioner urged residents of the community to always ensure that drainages were clean, adding that they should maintain and protect the infrastructure.
Bolanle Adebosin, a resident of Iyo Quarters Road, lauded the state government for bringing development to their doorsteps.
A resident of Ileteju Mopa Township Road, Mr Tope Daniel, appreciated Gov. Ododo for constructing a bridge in his community, linking other communities within the locality.
Daniel said the construction of the bridge had protected a lot of buildings from damage, and also saved many lives. NAN
