The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has called on Akwa Ibom citizens to take advantage of the Federal Government’s free education in all Federal Technical Colleges (FTCs) across the country.
The State Director of NOA in Akwa Ibom, Mr Mkpoutom Mkpoutom, made the call on Friday in Uyo while briefing newsmen.
He said that the tuition-free education was part of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritises Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) as a pathway to national development.
According to him, the policy is aimed at equipping young Nigerians with employable skills to boost human capital development, competitiveness and national progress.
“The free-education policy is to ensure Federal Technical Colleges fulfill their mandate of producing skilled graduates for national transformation.
“The initiative also covers other approved charges such as boarding fees, uniforms, textbooks, exercise books, prospectus and identity cards,” he said.

He also directed Community Orientation and Mobilisation Officers (COMOs) to sensitise citizens at the grassroots on the tuition-free policy.
The Federal Government recently announced the removal of tuition and other fees in all Federal Technical Colleges as part of efforts to encourage Technical and Vocational Education and Training.
The move is designed to reduce barriers to education, address youth unemployment and provide young Nigerians with practical skills needed for self-reliance and industrial growth.
