An Area Court sitting at Centre-Igboro Area, Ilorin, has dissolved the marriage between Aminat Mustapha and Bolaji Gold, over alleged domestic violence and lack of love.
Delivering judgment on the petition filed by Aminat Mustapha, on Wednesday, the Presiding Judge, Mr Toyin Aluko, said that since the husband had agreed to the dissolution of the union, there was no need for delay.
Aluko therefore dissolved the Islamic marriage and ordered the woman to observe one month Iddah (waiting) period before she could remarry.
The case was adjourned until Nov. 4, to determine the issue of custody of the children of the union.
Earlier, Mustapha told the court that she was no longer interested in the marriage, wanted a divorce and custody of the children.
The petitioner also applied for N50,000 as monthly maintenance for the children and for their father to be responsible for the children’s school fees.
While the husband agreed to the dissolution of the marriage, he opposed his estranged wife’s application for custody of the four children, ages 10, 9, 6 and 2 years, with reasons. NAN
