Gov. Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom has urged corps members serving in the state to exhibit high level of humility, discipline and loyalty throughout their service year as future leaders.
Eno gave the charge at the closing ceremony of the 2025 Batch ‘B’ Stream 11 orientation programme in Nsit Atai Local Government Area of the state on Tuesday.
The governor represented by Mr Anthony Isonguyo, Director, Administration and Supply, Ministry of Youth Development, said that the programme was designed to equip the corps members with leadership skills and values for national development.
He reminded the corps members that they were expected to play pivotal roles in enlightening the citizens on their civic responsibilities, as wpromote unity, peace and progress in their places of primary assignment.
He urged the corps members to see their posting as opportunity to touch lives, contribute their quota and bring renewed hope to the people.
”I am particularly delighted that you have endured the rigours of the training with resilience and without casualties.
You have been exposed to some of the challenges confronting us as a people; prepare to contribute meaningfully towards building a stronger and more prosperous country.
‘”With your education, skills, and presence across the state, you will be well positioned to pursue these noble ideals.
”I urge you therefore not to see you are posting as a burden, but a golden opportunity to serve with humility, discipline, loyalty and add value to your fatherland,” Eno said.
Eno urged the corps members to integrate freely in their host communities, respect their cultural values and work with them to improve their lives.
The governor reassured them of their safety and better welfare while serving in the state.
According to him, be assured that Akwa Ibom remains one of the most hospitable places in our country.
”Remember, your predecessors left indelible legacies in various sectors across the state. It is your responsibility to maintain and even surpass those enviable records.”
The governor warned the corps members against night travels, urging them to make use of security tips and be vigilant at all times.
He also assured them that their safety remained paramount to the administration at all times. NAN
