The Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) on Wednesday visited Uyo to commiserate with the family of a renowned evangelist, late Rev. Uma Ukpai, on his demise.
The PFN delegation led by the National President, Bishop Wale Oke, while addressing newsmen said they were in Uyo to officially announce the passing of one of their founding fathers and commiserate with the wife, Mrs Philomena Ukpai.
Our Correspondent reports that the family of the late Ukpai had earlier announced the passing of the renowned Nigerian evangelist and spiritual leader of Uma Ukpai Evangelistic Association at the age of 80.
Oke, represented by the National Secretary, Bishop David Bakari, said the passing of Ukpai was a devastating blow to the PFN, as he was scheduled to speak during their forthcoming 40th anniversary celebration of PFN.
“I am here to represent the National President, Bishop Wale Oke, who is unavoidably absent.
“Our father, Uma Ukpai, was scheduled to be the only speaker on that occasion and then the news broke on Oct. 6 that he went to be with the Lord.
“We are here to commiserate with the family of Uma Ukpai and the Pentecostal family, for this very occasion, not a loss, but as far as we are concerned, it is the home going of our father, Ukpai,” he said.
The national president said that the PFN during the 40th anniversary celebration would award posthumous recognition to the late Ukpai, which was billed to be given during the period.
He stated that PFN was founded during the Great Lagos Crusade in 1985.
