The Executive Chairman of Bassa Local Government Council, Dr. Joshua Sunday Riti has received a special award of excellence in recognition of his good governance and pragmatic approach to grassroots development.
The award, courtesy of the Forum of Local Government Information Officers, Plateau State chapter, was also presented to the Director of Personnel Management (DPM) of Bassa Local Government Council, Mrs. Christy Loyi, for her commitment to service delivery and administrative excellence.
Presenting the award to both the Council Chairman and the Director of Personnel Management at the Local Government Council Secretariat in Bassa, the National President Forum of Local Government Information Officers, Mrs. Alice Bature told the Chairman that the recognition followed his remarkable strides and outstanding leadership role in building a sustainable Local Government that will attract economic and social development.
Alice Bature urged the awardees to continue to put in their best towards the growth and development of the Local Government Area.
She explained that the award presented to them is intended to encourage them to do more for the people and assured them of the Forum’s continued support to help them succeed.
Receiving the award, the Executive Chairman of Bassa Local Government, Dr. Joshua Sunday Riti, thanked the Forum of the Local Government Information Officers, Plateau State chapter, for honouring them with the prestigious award.
The Chairman, while dedicating the award to God and the people of Bassa Local Government Area, pointed out that the new narrative in the Local Government would not have been possible without the support of the people in his administration.
The Council Chairman said the award is an indication that his administration’s developmental strides in one year are already public, adding that the award presented to him would further spur him to work harder to pursue people-centered programmes that will better their lives.
The Council helmsman unveiled some projects embarked upon by his administration within one year to include: the electrification of the Zikkeh community, the renovation of staff quarters in Amo Katako, the completion of the Jimbi bridge in Chokobo, the construction of the Executive Complex, Primary HealthCare Clinics, among other projects.
On her part, the Director of Personnel Management of Bassa Local Government Council, Mrs. Christy Loyi appreciated the Forum of Local Government Information Officers for the honour.
She noted that the award presented to her will be a motivating factor for her to put in her best for the betterment of the people.
Also speaking at the event, the Executive Chairman of Bokkos Local Government Council, Hon. Amalau Samuel, congratulated his Bassa counterpart and the DPM for the honour.
He urged them to justify the gesture done to them by the Forum of Information Officers to do more people-oriented projects for their people and in line with the Time is Now mantra of Governor Caleb Mutfwang in the State.
Congratulating the Chairman and the DPM on the award presented to them, the Secretary of Bassa Local Government Council, Hon. Yusuf Adiken urged them to continue to be an exceptional example of sustainable growth at the grassroots and assured the Council Chairman of their readiness to give him the desired support to enable him to succeed in delivering on his mandate for his people.
