Plateau Assembly Approves Vehicles, Manpower Proposal for State Fire Service

The Plateau State House of Assembly, has approved the proposal to provide additional manpower and functional utility vehicles for the State Fire Service during the ongoing budget defence session.

The Chairman of the Committee on Housing and Urban Development, Mr Abel Nimchak(APC/ Langtang North-North) said offficials from the Fire Service presented their budget, citing gaps in availability of functional utility vehicles , understaffing, which limited their capacity to respond proactively to emergencies.

Nimchak, emphasized that strengthening the state fire service agency was critical for protecting lives and property and enhancing overall fire safety management in Jos-Bukuru metropolis.

The lawmaker further said a proposal was also made for the creation of a fire service office at the city center in Terninus for optimal service delivery.

Nimchak, said that memos have been submitted to governor Caleb Mutfwang, and expressed optimistic that the memos would be approved by the governor as the agency provided essential services.

He further said that 90 per cent of the ongoing road constructions were over 50 per cent completed. NAN
