The Rotary Club of Jos South, has provided school uniforms, sandals and exercise books to 200 pupils in Jos South Local Government Area (LGA) in Plateau.
The newly invested 20th president of the Rotary Club of Jos South, Ms Henrietta Yohanna, on Sunday in Jos, during her investiture ceremony said the gesture was part of the club’s commitment of supporting basic education.
Yohanna, said the gesture was also done to commemorate the clubs’s 20th anniversary of service, compassion, and unwavering commitment to humanity.
“Over the past two decades, the Rotary club of Jos South, has stood as a beacon of hope in our communities.
“Through education, healthcare, youth empowerment, and humanitarian service; we have touched lives, restored dignity, and opened doors to better futures.
“Each project, each outreach, and each act of kindness has carried a simple but powerful message of “ hope lives here,’ she said.
According to her, during her one year tenure as the president of the club, projects would be executed on the club’s seven thematic areas of Water,Sanitation and hygiene, and Environment.
Others are Maternal and Child health, Basic Education and Literacy, Disease prevention and treatment, Economic and Community development, Peace building and conflict resolution.
Similarly, Ms Vera Pam, Committee Chairperson of the Rotary’s club of Jos south 20th anniversary, said the anniversary was not just a celebration of time, but that of impact and also that it showed the dedication of rotarians, who choose service over self.
Pam said that in the last 20 years the club had impacted lives through its seven thematic areas.
“As we look back with pride, we also look forward with renewed purpose; the next chapter of Rotary’s journey demands that we give hope more boldly, serve more selflessly, and reach more lives than ever before.
“Let this 20th anniversary renew our commitment to Rotary ideals. ” She said.
