The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) says NDC vice presidential candidate, Sen. Rabiu Kwankwaso is still clinging to the NNPP in spite of publicly announcing his membership of other parties.

This is contained in a statement on Tuesday by the NNPP National Publicity Secretary, Mr Ogini Olaposi in Lagos.

Recall that in a statement jointly signed by Mohammed Serina, NDC NorthWest Vice Chairman, and Hussaini Mariga, NDC Kano Chairman on Monday stated that Kwankwaso has seized all elective positions for Kano for his Kwankwasiya group members , ahead of the 2027 general elections.

According to the NNPP, Kwankwaso is not only trying to hijack political power in NDC Kano, it has continued to drag the NNPP for reasons best known to him.

“Some members of the Kwankwasiya Movement are the ones he left behind to continue the litigations that Kwankwaso initiated.

“NDC should be smart and intelligent enough to understand that Kwankwaso’s structure were in the past organic in kano state but at the moment all his commanding officers have all joined the APC.

“Any discerning mind should never take Elder Buba Galadima and Kwankwaso’s rhetorics seriously in the political space of Nigeria.

“Kwankwaso and Galadima betrayed the trust of the founding members of the NNPP and has not stopped manipulations to still hijack the party.

“It’s already in public space that kano structure is under attack and if the original members of NDC in kano do not stand firm, they shall taste the waters ,” the party stated.

The party warned that it would be tantamount to a political suicide if the NDC should make the mistakes of NNPP which is still evident in continued litigations by Kwankwaso’s followers, even after their master had left.

The NNPP pointed out that after Kwankwaso’s high handedness resulted in the defection of the party’s sole governor to the APC, what is left of the party structure collapsed and the Kwankwasiya movement members joined the APC finally .

“Whichever crowd Kwankwaso may claim at the moment are hired for the purposes of political tradership. Kwankwaso’s 1,000,000 votes in the 2023 general elections are gone for good and can not be activated 2027

“We are aware that Kwankwaso left his stooges behind in the NNPP, including Mr Dipo Olayoku, Prince Onu Nweze and Mohammed Bala to hold forth for him against his 2031 presidential ambition.”

The party noted that as expelled members of the NNPP, Kwankwaso and Galadima would not be readmitted into its fold for the destruction they brought to its fold.

“It is our hope that the chairman of INEC shall exercise restraint over his conduct in disobeying court orders to avoid truncating the 2027 general elections.”
