Dr Mark Nyitse, All Progress Congress (APC) candidate for Tarka State Constituency, has lauded Nigerian First Lady, Sen. Oluremi Tinubu’s unwavering commitment to the welfare, empowerment and advancement of women.
Nyitse gave the commendation as he welcome the first lady to Benue on an official visit to the state.
The Benue House of Assembly hopeful said that Sen. Tinubu’s visit was both significant and symbolic.
“Through your advocacy and numerous initiatives, you have continued to inspire hope, promote inclusiveness, and champion the cause of women across the nation.
“The women of Benue are particularly encouraged by your steadfast dedication to their aspirations and your support for greater recognition, participation, and inclusion of women in leadership and governance.
“Your presence among us today affirms the vital role women play in nation-building and sustainable development,” he said.
He stated that the first lady’s efforts reflected her enduring affection for the people of Benue and their unwavering commitment to the welfare, empowerment, and advancement of Nigerian women
“As your excellency engages with the people of our state, we humbly appeal for a special moment of identification with the women of Tarka Local Government Area.
“These remarkable women, mothers, widows, caregivers, and community builders, have for generations embodied resilience, sacrifice, and service.
“They are the proud mothers and descendants of the late Senator Joseph Sarwuan Tarka, the foremost political icon and founding patriarch of Benue politics, whose contributions to the political emancipation of the Middle Belt remain a source of pride and inspiration.
“Despite their historic role in preserving this enduring legacy, many of these women have remained largely overlooked and insufficiently recognised over the years.
“Today, they look to your excellency not only as the first lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria but also as a compassionate advocate for women, families, and vulnerable communities,” he added.
According to him, Tinubu’s solidarity with Tarkaa would restore hope, affirm their dignity, and acknowledge the sacrifices they have made in sustaining the values and heritage associated with one of Nigeria’s most distinguished statesmen.
He added the gesture would be both historic and memorable, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of the people of Tarka and Benue as a whole. NAN
