PRESS RELEASE

Former Plateau State Governor, Senator Joshua Chibi Dariye, Ph.D has raised alarm over the activities of fraudsters and spineless politicians who were using his name on Facebook to make unwarranted, baseless and mischievous political statements.

In a strongly-worded statement, Senator Dariye denied owning any social media platform and asserted that he had no intention of owning one in the nearest future.

He disclosed that the recent statement credited to him that “This is 2026 century and you are expecting me to tell you what to do? I don’t hold any political office in Nigeria and l can’t come out to tell you what you need to do, use your head”, did not emanate from him.

Senator Dariye stated that as a former two-term governor and two-term Senator, he was not in the habit of shying away from expressing his views on local and national issues, as he has never made such statements at any forum, let alone on a social media handle which he did not have.

The former Governor, therefore, appealed to the public to disregard any statement on the social media purportedly emanating from him as he does not operate any social media handle.

He added that security agencies had been tasked to investigate the matter and apprehend perpetrators of the fake Facebook account and bring them to justice to serve as deterrent to others.
