Team Benue has expressed optimism of winning more medals at the ongoing National Sports Festival (NSF) in Ogun.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the official medals table of the festival indicated that Team Benue has one silver, six bronze after seven days of the showpiece.

Saambatiam Kuku, Secretary, Benue Tennis Association, one of the team officials who spoke with NAN at the MKO Abiola Sports Arena, thanked God and Gov. Hyacinth Alia, who ensured that the state participated in the festival.

“For us to be here is the most important thing, and we thank the governor for making it possible for us to be here.

“I cannot say that we have done well because we have lost all the matches we have played so far, but we look forward to a better competition as time goes on.

“I am optimistic that the Benue team will still do better,” he said.

“My only concern is that most of our opponents are international players, who are professionals.

“But I am confident that our athletes will match them and win more medals,” he said.  NAN
