A recent article by Dan’Aseb Muhammad, a public affairs commentator and punished by nigeriantimes on the 22 July 2025, has sparked controversy by questioning Governor Caleb Mutfwang’s commitment to security in Plateau State. The article alleges that the governor’s actions are driven by political gains rather than a genuine desire to address the state’s security challenges.
However, a closer look at the facts on ground reveals a different story. Governor Mutfwang’s concerns about security in Plateau State are not driven by politics, but by the alarming rate of killings and attacks in the state which is largely describe as genocide and land grabbing. The governor’s statements on security are not meant to rubbish the security agencies, but to encourage them to do better and to point out their lapses as the chief security officer of the state.
The recent admission by Lieutenant Colonel Paave according to some eye witnesses who revealed to the governor and the public that the Fulani blocked them on the way to respond to attacks in some villages is a clear indication that the governor’s concerns are valid. The victims of these attacks have also consistently pointed accusing fingers at the military, highlighting the need for the governor to take a proactive approach to addressing the security challenges in the state which led to the governor’s visit to the places the attack took place, governor Mutfwang has always been visiting all the attack sides to see things for himself and to listen to the cry of the public and to also see what possible assistance support they need and how to find lasting solutions to the attacks on innocent lives and which has consumed little children and infants.
In terms of security support, Governor Mutfwang has been doing more than just providing vehicles. He has been working tirelessly to ensure that the security agencies have the necessary resources to carry out their duties effectively. The governor’s commitment to security is not limited to providing vehicles, but includes other critical areas such as intelligence gathering, logistics, and welfare support for security personnel.
It is unfortunate that some individuals are trying to use the security situation in Plateau State to create problems and incite the military against the people. The writer of the article in question has shown a lack of understanding of the complexities of security in the state and has chosen to focus on selective condemnation rather than offering constructive solutions.
Governor Mutfwang’s approach to security is not driven by political considerations, but by a genuine desire to protect the lives and property of the people of Plateau State. His commitment to social justice and fairness is evident in his actions, and he has consistently shown a willingness to work with all stakeholders to address the security challenges in the state.
In conclusion, Governor Mutfwang’s efforts to address the security challenges in Plateau State are not driven by political gains, but by a genuine desire to protect the people of the state. The facts on ground support the governor’s concerns about security, and his commitment to providing security support to the agencies is evident in his actions. We urge all stakeholders to work together to address the security challenges in the state, rather than trying to create problems and incite the military against the people.
