A member of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Mr Matthew Kwarpo (APC/Mangu South), has distributed 1,200 bags of fertiliser, 20 water pump engines and 50 knapsack sprayers to farmers in his constituency.
Kwarpo, during the distribution of the agricultural inputs on Monday in Mangu, said the gesture was aimed at boosting food production, reducing the burden on farmers, and improving the livelihoods of his constituents
According to him, the intervention aligned with both the federal and state governments’ efforts to ensure food security amid rising costs of farm inputs.
The lawmaker also inaugurated a four-classroom block he constructed and three-classroom blocks he renovated.
Kwarpoe also built culverts and toilets at Jwakkas Community and said the projects would help improve the welfare of his constituents.
The legislator also gave scholarship awards and educational support initiatives worth millions of naira.
A gesture, he said, was to empower young people and promote academic excellence in his constituency.
“We have given ₦90,000 each to the best students of Islamic Secondary School and Pahzibul-Ahlaq Nursery and Primary School in Mangu.
“We have awarded the sum of ₦400,000 to SS3 students of Mwansat College, Mangu, to support their academic needs.
“We have also provided the sum of ₦240,000 to cover tuition fees for 10 students of the Plateau State Polytechnic.
“I have awarded scholarships to 45 students of Christ Apostolic Model College Mangu who are preparing for JAMB and also gave them the sum of ₦400,000 to support their school fees.
“In the area of empowerment, we have equally given the sum of N5 million to petty traders across the Mangu South constituency to boost their businesses,” he listed.
Kwarpo also appreciated Governor Caleb Mutfwang for his relentless support to him and Mangu South Constituency.
He stated that the governor’s support was what led to the success of his intervention.
