The Plateau State Contributory Health Care Management Agency (PLASCHEMA) has held a review and validation meeting on Community Based Health Insurance (CBHI)baseline survey tool for facility and community readiness.
Dr Solomon Kwande, Director-General (D-G) of the agency on Friday in Jos, said the meeting had various stakeholders, who would review and validate the baseline tool to ensure the readiness of the healthcare facilities.
He noted that the review would be done to ensure a smooth implementation of the CBHI in the various communities.
Kwande, said that after the meeting, inputs gotten from stakeholders would be integrated into the tool.
He further said that the tool would be used to commence a pilot programme of the CBHI in 34 council wards across the state.
The D-G said at the end of the three months of pilot programme, the agency would have gotten accelerated evidence that would serve as a tool for the implementation of the scheme in all the wards.
He added that the CBHI scheme was part of the state government’s commitment to expanding health insurance to rural and low-income populations, ensuring that no one was left behind in accessing essential healthcare services.
The D-G further said the exercise was a key step toward achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC) in Plateau. NAN
