The Stallion Times Media Service has trained 40 practicing journalists in Kogi on rudiments of Multimedia Journalism toward enhancing the journalism profession in Nigeria.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports in Lokoja on Thursday that the one-day Multimedia Newsroom Training generated a lot of questions to which answers were provided with satisfaction by the articulated and versatile resource persons.
The Stallion Times is a partner in the Collaborative Media Project (Collaborating for media independence and government accountability) with support from the Wole Soyinka Centre for Investigative Journalism, funded by the MacArthur Foundation.
Welcoming participants, Mr Isiyaku Ahmed, Stallion Times Editor-In-Chief, said that the training was aimed at acquainting practicing journalists with techniques involved in informing, educating and entertaining the public better in the modern world.
Ahmed, who is also the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Stallion Times, believed that after the training the participants would be more informed to do the news reporting better for the growth and development of Nigeria.
“It’s our believe that after now you will all appreciate the use of technology to deliver investigative reports in a blend of text, static images,
animation, video and audio clips.
“Although it requires more than just a person to perfect a Multimedia report, no journalist can succeed without using a Laptop as one of the tools needed,” he said.
He also said that it demands a Digital Editor, Composer and Content Editor as well as the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to put out interesting and attractive news items for the public consumption.
Another Resource person, Mr Stephen Salawu, spoke on Concept and Effective use of Multimedia, and the Essential Skills and Tools for Multimedia Journalism in our contemporary world.
Salawu tasked the participants into taking the training serious to show a difference in their reportage and respective media organisations.
According to him, the multimedia journalism has become the trend in the journalism profession across the world with many people loosing jobs as result of the development.
Mr Stephen Enoch, another resource person, spoke on Setting the Climate, Objectives and Expectations in Multimedia Journalism during which he advised participants to be creative and committed to get results. NAN
