A Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), called Women Like Esther Support Initiative (WLESI), has called for more assistance and empowerment for women to enable them to fulfill their purpose-driven life.
The Chief Executive Officer of the NGO, Nigerian Chapter, Mrs Blessing Makanjuola, made the call at the launch of the organisation in Ajaokuta, Kogi, on Monday.
Makanjuola regretted that a lot of women in the country live without hope “due to their low economic power and the lack of sound footing in their communities”.
She said that there was need for government, corporate organisations and wealthy individuals to look at various means of helping women to stand on their own in order to fulfill their God-given purposes in life.
“This has become imperative because many women don’t have good footings.
“They don’t know their left from right and have lost hope.
“Life no longer have meaning to them.
“That’s why our NGO has decided to take the bull by the horn to connect women to their God-given destiny,” Makanjuola said.
She said that with the launch of the group, it was time to gather women in order to chart the way forward for them in times as this.
“You can agree with me that the days and times are hard and evil.
“Our aim is to gather women in Kogi and all over the world, to help chart a way forward for them to discover and realise their purpose in life.
“This is because, if you are a woman without a purpose, you don’t have a life to live,” Makanjuola said.
She said that Esther in the bible was a child from nowhere, but she realised her purpose in life, became a Queen and transformed destinies.
“That is what our NGO has come to do for women in Kogi, Nigeria and across the world,” Makanjuola said.
According to her, we are out to enable women to stand tall in whichever situation they found themselves so that the problems of this world will not overwhelm them.
“This is to help them to contribute their quota in homes and toward nation building,” she said.
She explained that WLESI would also encourage women to learn how to look up to God for help in prayers because “when women cry to God in prayers there’s hope for revival and salvation”.
“We intend to do this through workshops, seminars and town hall meetings, where we can sensitise and train them as the Lord will empower us.
“We believe that when you build a woman you have built a nation,” Makanjuola said.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the highpoint of the inauguragion of the NGO was the distribution of cash support to some indigent women, including an unemployed graduate mother of triplets, Hajiya Hadiza Muhammed. NAN
