The Plateau Youth Council (PYC), has organised a one day Peace Sensitisation and Trauma Healing summit for youths in Barkin – Ladi Local Government Area (LGA) of Plateau.
Mr Lot Adas, the chairman of the council on Monday, said the essence of the summit, was for the youths to come together to find a lasting solution for peace and security.
Adas, said the summit was imperative as it was high time the youths took the centre stage in the peace building process and formed a robust synergy with the security agencies.
“The essence of this summit is to set the basis for building collaborative partnership for peace and stability in the state,’’ he said.
The Coordinator of Operations Rainbow, Bashir Makama, who delivered the keynote address, commended the council for organising the workshop, saying that sensitisation was key as the youths were salient in the promotion of peace.
He said that for the youths to be active agents in peace and conflict resolution, it was imperative that they were reoriented and rehabilitated.
Similarly, Mr Santos Larab, who delivered the second keynote address, said the youths were the engine room of every society and as such they should desist from any act that would lead to chaos.
Mr Pam Dung, a participant of the training thanked the council for organizing the workshop as it had helped in re-orientating him.NAN
