The Kogi Command of the Nigerian Police has charged its personnel to ensure safety and protection of residents during and after the Easter celebration.
The State Commissioner of Police, Mr Bethrand Onuoha, gave the charge during a meeting with its Divisional Police Officers (DPOs), Supervisory Area Commanders, as well as Tactical Commanders.
This is contained in a statement in Lokoja on Friday by the command’s spokesperson, SP Williams Ovye-Aya.
Onuoha said the command had already deployed adequate security assets ahead of the celebration to prevent untoward situation in the respective Area of Responsibility (AOR) and to ensure peaceful and hitch-free celebration.
“Therefore, DPOs must implement crime prevention strategies adopted by the command and carry out intensive crime prevention patrols along the highways, residential and vulnerable points, places of worship and other places of public intersection, ” he said.
He assured residents of the command’s unwavering commitment in ensuring safety of lives and property during and after the Easter period.
He added that his officers and men were battle ready to deal with criminal elements.
“The command assure people of Kogi of unwavering commitment in ensuring safety of lives and property during and after the Easter period.”
The CP reiterated the command’s commitment to work with sister security agencies in ensuring safety of lives and property, and denying space for criminal elements to thrive in and around Kogi.
He, congratulated the Christian faithful in the state on the occasion of the 2024 Easter celebration.
Onuoha also urged residents to be security conscious throughout the period and beyond.
He also urged them to collaborate with security agencies and volunteer credible and timely information on activities of criminal elements in the state. NAN
