Alhaji Yakubu Ajaka, SDP Kogi Governorship defeated candidate in the Nov. 11, 2023 off-cycle election, has enjoined Christians to embrace a life of sacrifice, love and unity for nation building.
Ajaka, in a statement issued in Lokoja on Sunday, described Easter celebration as a demonstration of Jesus Christ’s love and sacrifice for the salvation of the whole world.
“As the celebration of this day is synonymous to selflessness, sacrifice and love, I’m admonishing the brethren to embody all the virtues of what this day signifies for peaceful coexistence.
“This is because anywhere there is sacrifice, love and selflessness, peace, unity and progress will be inevitable for national development.
“We must use this historic day to pray and recommit ourselves to the quest of the salvation of our state, patriotism to our nation and tolerance for one another, irrespective of faith, tribe, affiliation to political party and other sentiments, ” he said.
He expressed joy that the historical occasion was rooted in the christian faith in remembrance of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross for the world and his resurrection.
The candidate, however, renewed his call for the peaceful coexistence of all kogi people within and outside the state.
“There is no other truth outside the known and established fact that we are one united family, ” he said. NAN
