Mr Joshua Laven, Plateau Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, has said that the establishment of Tarok Community University will transform and accelerate development in Tarok Land and Plateau in general.

Laven stated this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in Langtang.

The excited commissioner said education was the bedrock of every society, but Tarok Land was without a tertiary institution, be it state or federal.

He said that the first community university in the state would boost tertiary education among Tarok and Plateau people.

Laven lauded the leadership of the Tarok Development Association, known as Ngwang Ishi Otaroh (NIO), for organising a befitting cultural festival and fundraising for the university’s takeoff.

“I have a message of joy, peace, reunion, and unity for the Tarok nation.

“The cultural festival was a coming together of various Tarok sons and daughters, and that has shown that the unity of the Tarok land is sacrosanct.

“The idea to establish our first university is accepted by all Tarok sons and daughters, who have agreed to start with a launching.

“Everything about the university, excluding the funding, is in place. The land and everything are already available.

“All of us will work together to ensure that we have this university to enhance our level of education and development,” he said. NAN
