League of Yoruba Youths Laud Leadership Qualities, Achievements Of Salem University VC

The League of Yoruba Youths for Advocacy on Thursday, commended the leadership qualities and achievements of the Vice Chancellor, Salem University Lokoja, Prof Alewo Johnson-Akubo.

Mr Adediwura Adesina, President-General, gave the commendation while presenting a prestigious leadership Award of Excellence to the vice chancellor in Lokoja.

Adeshina said the league had been closely monitoring the activities of the tvice chancellor and discovered his efforts to impact growth and development of the faith based-university.

“While scrutinising the performances of universities across Nigeria, we realised that what Salem University is doing is more impactful than some private and public universities.

“This, no doubt, moved us to honour you, the vice chancellor of this gigantic citadel of learning.

“This prestigious award given to you today, is our way of recognising you as an icon of educational development and liberator of the Nigerian youths.

“As youths, we are proud of you for being a shinning example to us, as we strive to contribute our quota to the development of Nigeria.

“By this award, you have joined the league of our awardees in the likes of the New Horizon, Dr Tim Akanni and the Minister of Blue Economy, Mr. Adegboyega Oyetola among others, ” he said.

The  Ooni of Ife, Adeyeye Enitan-Ogunwusi, he added, serves as the group’s Grand Patron and always okays certificates of credence before they are presentation to awardees.

“Ours is a prestigious organisation, versatile in the southwest but has heard and seen what you are doing in Salem University,” he said.

Adeshina was also particular about the graduation of the university’s first set of Law students and mobilising them for the National Youths Service, as well as the expansion going on in the institution.

Responding, Prof. Johnson-Akubo, thanked the group for finding him worthy of the leadership award.

“As the vice chancellor of this citadel of learning, I will continue to do my best toward boosting the education standard and the growth and development of the university, ” he said .  NAN
