Dr Abdullahi Bayawo, Governorship Candidate of Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) in the Nov. 11, 2023 Kogi Governorship election, have vowed to appeal at the Supreme Court the judgement of the appellate court that declared Gov Usman Ododo of All Progressive Congress (APC) winner of that poll.

Bayawo, in a statement issued on Friday in Lokoja, expressed his dismay and intention to proceed to the Supreme Court to challenge the appellate court’s Thursday’s Judgement.

The Court of Appeal had, in it’s judgement on the candidate’s appeal on Thursday in Abuja, reaffirmed the state election petition tribunal judgment validating the victory of Usman Ododo as the governor of Kogi,

The PRP candidate said he received the news of the Court of Appeal’s ruling upholding the election of Ododo of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the Governor of Kogi State with dismay and disappointment.

Bayawo said: “While we respect the decision of the court, we strongly believe that the ruling is flawed and a miscarriage of justice. We are deeply concerned about the implications of this ruling on the democratic process and the people of Kogi State.

“After careful consideration, we have decided to exercise our right to appeal this decision to the Supreme Court. We are confident that our case has merit and will be resolved in our favor.

“We want to assure our supporters and all Nigerians that we will not give up in our pursuit of justice and democracy. We will continue to explore all available avenues to ensure that the true will of the people is upheld.

“We urge all well-meaning Nigerians to join us in this struggle for democracy and accountability. We remain committed to ensuring that every vote counts and that the voices of the people are heard.”
