Gov. Lucky Aiyedatiwa was declared winner of the Nov. 16 Ondo State Governorship having scored 366, 781 votes to defeat his closest challenger, Mr Agboola Ajayi of the People’s Democratic Party (ODP), who scored 117, 845 votes to serve the people for the next four years.
Aiyedatiwa’s declaration was made by the Returning Officer, Professor Olayemi Akinwumi, Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University, Lokoja, at the INEC collation center in Akure.
This votes Aiyedatiwa garnered mark a significant lead for the APC candidate, winning by a margin of over 200,000 votes and sweeping all 18 local government areas.
“That Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa of the APC, having satisfied the requirement of the law, is hereby declared the winner and is returned elected,” Akinwumi announced at approximately 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, following an overnight collation of results.
Aiyedatiwa, who first assumed office on December 27, 2023, following the death of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, will now continue leading the state.
His re-election represents a resounding endorsement from Ondo’s residents, who have entrusted him with another term to further the progress and stability of the Sunshine State.
