The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has recorded significant achievements in its fight against crime and criminality in the State.
The Commissioner of Police, Baba Mohammed-Azare, disclosed this while addressing a news conference on Wednesday at the State Police Command Headquarters in Ikot Akpan Abia.
Mohammed-Azare said that some of the Command’s successes over the past week, include notable arrests and recoveries unlawful possession of Firearms, Cultists and Armed Robbers.
He disclosed that a 13-year-old pupil, Samuel Sunday, was arrested for possessing a locally made pistol, which he claimed to have obtained from his father’s bedroom.
“Operatives arrested several suspected cultists and recovered firearms, ammunition, and other incriminating items.
“Two women, Roseline Maurice and Eno Udoka, were arrested for conspiring to steal a child and selling the child for N200,000.
“Several suspects, including a self-acclaimed prophet, Elisha Ekop Etise, were arrested for rape and defilement.
“Operatives also arrested several suspects and recovered large quantities of suspected Indian hemp.
“Some suspects were arrested and military camouflage uniforms, among other items, were recovered just as as a suspect arrested with live cartridges and expended cartridges, ” he said.
The Commissioner, however, urged the public to continue supporting the command with useful information and prayers.
He emphasized that the command would remain relentless in its efforts to rid the state of crime and criminality. (ephemeralnews.com.ng)
