The Kogi State Police Command has taken a significant step towards enhancing its relationship with the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) in the state.
This followed the received by the State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Miller Dantawaye, the NLC Chairman, Comrade Gabriel Amari, who was in command’s headquarters on Tuesday in Lokoja for a courtesy call.
A press statement signed by the police command’s Spokesman, SP Williams Ovye-Aya said that the meeting was toward fostering a strong collaboration between Labour and police.
Aya said that Comrade Amari emphasized the importance of collaboration between the police and the labour union in ensuring peace, security, and promoting workers’ welfare across the state.
He said that the NLC boss assured the police command that the union would continue to partner with them to maintain law and order in Kogi State.
“Amari futher emphasized the importance of promoting workers’ welfare, while the police command assured its commitment to supporting the labour union.”
Aya quoted CP Dantawaye of his commitment to the collaboration and reaffirmed the command’s commitment to providing necessary support and maintaining a cordial working relationship with the labour union.
Dantawaye, he said, expressed the command’s readiness to collaborate with the NLC in areas of mutual interest for the betterment of the state.
The Spokesman said that the meeting ended on a positive note, with both parties expressing their willingness to work together towards achieving peace, progress, and development in Kogi State.
“This development is a significant step towards strengthening police-labour relations in the state, which is expected to have a positive impact on the overall well-being of the citizens.
“The police command and NLC have pledged to work together to ensure peace and security in Kogi State..
“Both parties have expressed their willingness to partner in areas of mutual interest for the betterment of the state,” he said.
