Plateau Residents Cry Foul Over Jolex Construction Firm’s Substandard Road Work, Call for Mutfwang’s Urgent Action

Residents of Tudun Wada, Sabon Gari, Mado, and Kabong in Jos North have expressed deep concern and frustration over the delay and poor quality of road construction work being carried out by Jolex Construction Company.

The community alleges that government officials often visit the site and undermine their concerns, only allowing selected individuals to speak positively about the project.

According to the residents, the road is poorly done, and government officials are misleading the public by claiming that Jolex is doing high-quality work. They are calling on Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang to intervene and inspect the road, which they claim is substandard and poorly done.

The residents expressed disappointment and frustration in a press statement signed by Davou Isah Emmanuel and Julius Nengak all residence of the communities, stating that they are dissatisfied with the low quality of work and the slow pace of the project.

They claimed that the contractor, Jolex Construction Company, is incompetent and lacks the capacity to deliver the project.

The community recalls a previous protest over a similar project handled by the same contractor, Jolex construction company.

 

A concerned stakeholders, Hon Yakubu Choji alongside others, who took  newsmen round the bad roads, rven going as far as pulling the surface of the road with their hands for them to see to show that they are not lying.

The residents protested against the low standard and poor quality of road construction by the same contractor some times back. but surprisingly the journalist didn’t carry the news.

“That’s the reason which up till this moment our cry isn’t heard. Again,  in the course of the construction, our water supply pipes are destroyed leaving our people suffering without water, ” they stated.

They emphasized that they are not against the contractor, but against the poor quality work  and bad standard of the road.

The residents are urging Governor Mutfwang to urgently intervene and engage a more competent and efficient contractor who can deliver the project to the required standard.

They noted that the road construction has been ongoing since the last administration, and they are concerned that it may not be completed but would only become a campaign tool.

The community is disappointed that despite their massive support for the governor, the road project has been neglected. They are appealing to the governor to address the issue urgently, as the rainy season approaches and election period looms.

The residents are concerned about the lack of basic amenities, including poor water supply, inadequate healthcare facilities, and schools, despite their significant contribution to the electoral process. They urge the governor to take their concerns seriously and address the issues promptly.

The community is questioning why Tudun Wada Sabon Gari Mado and Kabong are being marginalized, and whether their vote is not important. They are warning the governor not to use the road for campaign purposes, as they have been neglected for years.

The residents are calling on Governor Mutfwang to visit the site and see the poor quality work for himself, and to take urgent action to complete the road project to the required standard.
