The wife of Plateau Governor, Mrs Helen Mutfwang, on Thursday in Jos condoled with families affected by the recent killings.
Mrs Mutfwang, who made a cash donation to victims’ families at Ujah Anaguta’s Palace prayed that God would comfort them and heal their scars.
She assured them that the governor and even the President have taken steps to end the crisis permanently, adding that perpetrators of the massacre would be punished and brought to repentance.
Also speaking, the paramount ruler, Johnson Magaji who was represented by District Head ,Bala Haruna welcomed the governor’s wife and thanked her for the cash donations.
Furthermore, the Jos North Local Government Chairman, Mr John Christopher, welcomed the governor’s wife.
Christopher said the attacks killed 34 peaceful citizens and left 22 injured without provocation.
He added that families had lost breadwinners, parents, and children, leaving scars and pain that would remain unforgettable in the community and the local government.
He thanked the governor’s wife for her visit, noting that the executive governor had also come and that her presence consoled them, as the state stood with them.
Later, Mrs Mutfwang moved to the Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH) to visit victims receiving treatment where she was welcomed by the hospital’s Medical Advisory Committee, led by Dr Njem Maina.
Maina reported that 22 patients were admitted with broken limbs and abdominal injuries and that two died early, but others were now getting better.
He thanked the Plateau government for its swift response, praised the governor and his wife for their care, and pledged to treat all remaining patients until they go home safely.
At the hospital, the governor’s wife advised victims to heed medical prescriptions for speedy recovery, describing the killings as unfortunate.
She prayed for God’s comfort, presented cash donations, and pleaded with citizens to be patient, prayerful, and forgiving.
NAN spoke with some injured victims who were grateful to be alive and thanked the state government for the medical and financial support.
Abdulkarim Bashir, a victim, said he thanked God for being alive and for recovering from the gunshot wounds, and also thanked the governor’s wife.
Another victim, Luka Jacob, said he was privileged to be alive, thanked God, and also thanked the governor’s wife for coming to the hospital to see him.
Ufialas Daniel, a staff of University of Jos who was also a victim of the shooting said he was grateful for the care and love from the state government.
Ishaya Patrick said God had shown him mercy to have escaped death and thanked the governor’s wife for her kind gesture and cash donations. NAN
