Jos, May 8, 2026 (NAN) Dr Cletus Shurkuk, the Plateau Commissioner for Science and Technology, says upcoming innovation festival in the state will showcase the best ideas and recent innovations in the sector.
Shurkuk who, said this during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Jos, said the inaugural Innovation Festival, slated for June 1 to 3 would unite multiple sectors.
He said it would showcase innovations, build database, reward top talents, attract investors, empower youth and solve local challenges.
“We want to build a databank of all innovations for easy reference and to provide homegrown solutions to global challenges,” Shurkuk said.
He said that top three innovators to emerge from the event would receive awards to motivate others to participate, adding that investors would also attend to explore profitable business opportunities.
He said that winning innovations would get partner support to scale up beyond the festival and encouraged youths participation.
“Government is keen on empowering youths to solve local problems using their brains,” he said.
The commissioner said that the festival aligned with the Federal Government’s efforts to commercialise Nigerian research findings. NAN
