The All Progressives Congress (APC) on Saturday peaxefully conducted its House of Representatives’ primary elections across Kogi with both serving lawmakers and new entrants emerging victorious.
Engr. Yusuf, immediate former works commissioner emerges Adavi-Okehi Reps Candidate with Landslide Victory just as Yagba Federal Constituency, incumbent lawmaker Hon. Leke Abejide, who secured the party’s ticket after defeating Pastor Babagbemi in the direct primary election.
ephemeralnews.com.ng reports that the primary election for Adavi-Okehi Federal Constituency ahead of the 2027 general elections, saw card-carrying members of the party across the 22 wards participating actively in the democratic process.
The exercise witnessed by massive turnouts of party faithful, was said to be a reflection of the commitment of members toward strengthening internal democracy and advancing the collective interest of the party within the constituency.
Following the collation of results from all the 22 wards of Adavi-Okehi Federal Constituency, Engr. Yusuf secured a total of 24,958 votes to emerge the winner of the primary election beating his close rivals Hon. Ahmed Ibrahim Adinoyi and Hon. M.I. Onimisi who polled 155 and 109 votes respectively.
Also victorious were Hon. Sanni Egidi Abdulkareem, representing Ajaokuta Federal Constituency, and Hon. Abdullahi Ali Halims of Ankpa/Olamaboro/Omala Federal Constituency, who both clinched the APC tickets in their respective constituencies.
In Okene/Ogori-Magongo Federal Constituency, Sanni Salau Ogembe, a new entrant, emerged winner of the primary election.
Hon. Suleiman Danladi Aguye emerged unopposed as the APC candidate for Lokoja/Kogi Federal Constituency. He is the current member representing the constituency in the House of Representatives.
The primaries were conducted across the ten wards in Lokoja I and II, as well as the ten wards of Kogi Local Government Area, with party officials and Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) observers monitoring the exercise.
Speaking after the election, Abdulkareem commended his constituents for their peaceful conduct and participation in the process.
In his remarks after tge primaries in the state, Gov. Ahmed Ododo commended the party members for conducting themselves in a peaceful and orderly manner in the state
Ododo urged party members to remain peaceful and united throughout the remaining primaries and the upcoming 2027 general elections for the progress of the party.
“This is because we have to jealously protect our democratic process for the growth and development of Kogi and Nigeria as a whole, “he stated.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening democratic values and ensuring transparent political processes within the party.
