Mae Edmunds, the Convener, Uyo Fashion Week, has described the 2026 edition as a redefinition of African creativity and culture.
Edmunds told newsmen in Uyo on Friday that the 5th edition of the week was a powerful convergence of culture, creativity and commerce.
She said that the 2026 event reaffirmed Uyo Fashion Week’s growing reputation as one of Nigeria’s most emerging fashion platforms.
The convener said that the event brought together designers, models, fashion entrepreneurs, celebrities, industry leaders and style enthusiasts from Nigeria and beyond to celebrate Africa’ fashion and story.
“From breathtaking runway moments to insightful masterclasses, exhibitions and networking sessions, the event highlighted the economic and cultural potential of the creative industry.
“It has positioned Akwa Ibom as a rising hub for fashion tourism, heritage and innovation.
“Designers thrilled audiences with collections that blended African heritage with contemporary elegance.
“They showcased bold silhouettes, intricate craftsmanship, vibrant textiles and futuristic interpretations of indigenous fashion,” she said.
Edmunds said that a major highlight of the event was the highly anticipated Arise 31 Runway Show, which brought electrifying energy to the fashion week experience.
The convener further said that beyond the glamour of the runway, the Uyo Fashion Week demonstrated commitment to youth empowerment, enterprise development and the growth of Africa’s creative economy. NAN
