The National Executive Council of the National Youth Council of Nigeria
(NYCN), has appointed Dr. Suberu Yusuf-John as its President’s Special Adviser (SA) on Road Safety, Strategic Partnerships and Sustainable Development.
The appointment, contained in a letter to Yusuf-John and signed by the Council’s National President, Amb. Isah Babangida, was made available to newsmen in Lokoja on Wednesday.
Dr Yusuf-John is currently the Special Adviser (SA) to Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Ododo, on road safety matters.
The council disclosed that the appointment of Yusuf-John was in recognition of his outstanding contributions, exceptional leadership,
and remarkable achievements in road safety and sustainable development.
It said, “We are pleased
to convey your appointment as
Special Adviser to the Council’s National President on Road Safety, Strategic Partnerships and
Sustainable Development.
“This appointment takes immediate effect and shall be governed by the Constitution, policies, and directives of the National Youth Council of Nigeria.”
It said that the appointee was expected to: Initiate and coordinate national youth road safety advocacy programmes aimed at reducing road traffic crashes and promoting safe road use among young people.
The council also tasked him to build and strengthen strategic partnerships with federal and state government institutions, development partners, diplomatic missions, international organizations, the private sector, civil society organizations, and youth-focused institutions.
“Mobilize technical, financial, and institutional resources to support the programmes and initiatives of the Council.
“Promote the integration of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly those relating to road safety, health, youth empowerment, climate action, quality education, and sustainable communities, into the Council’s programmes and activities.
“Facilitate collaboration with national and international organizations to promote capacity building, innovation, investment, and youth development initiatives.
“Provide strategic policy advice to the National President on matters relating to transportation, road safety, sustainable development, and organizational partnerships.
“Undertake such other responsibilities as may be assigned by the National President in furtherance of the objectives of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, ”
According to the council, the appointment is honorary, and so he is expected to uphold the highest standards of
integrity, professionalism, and ethical conduct while discharging your
responsibilities in a manner that reflects the vision, values, and ideals of the National Youth Council of Nigeria.
The council expressed confidence that the SA’s wealth of experience, distinguished public
service record, and commitment to national development will significantly
advance its mission of empowering Nigerian youths and promoting sustainable
national development.
