President Bola Tinubu has been declared winner of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primary election in Akwa Ibom.
Tinubu won the party primary with 389,197 votes, while Mr Stanley Osifo recorded zero votes.
The APC presidential primary election was conducted on Saturday across all 329 wards in Akwa Ibom to elect the APC Presidential flag bearer in the 2027 general elections.
The APC State Collation Officer and Governor of Akwa Ibom, Mr Umo Eno, announced the results of the primary election which were earlier submitted by the local government returning officers.
Eno commended party faithful for the peaceful and orderly conduct of the exercise, describing the outcome as a reflection of the confidence and support President Tinubu continued to enjoy from the APC members in Akwa Ibom.
“The primary election witnessed massive participation by delegates and stakeholders from the 31 local government areas of the state,” Eno said.
In his remarks, Sen. Godswill Akpabio, President of the Senate, commended the governor for his peaceful disposition, and the party faithful for their orderly conduct at the exercise.
He also commended the APC National Chairman for opting for direct primaries, and explained that such a system had reduced incidents of rancour and violence during primary elections.
Akpabio congratulated President Tinubu for the overwhelming victory in the state, and assured him of replicating the same during the 2027 general elections.
The collated results were subsequently presented to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officials present, the Commissioner of Police and the Director State Security. NAN
