Gov. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang has appointed three senior retired military officers to key security positions aimed at strengthening the security operations in Plateau.
The appointments which are with immediate effect was contained in a statement signed by the Secretary to the Government of Plateau State, Arc. Samuel Jatau.
Jatau quoted the governor of explaining that the appointments were aimed at strengthening the protection of lives, property, and schools across the state.
Mutfwang has named Brigadier General Nash Yakubu (Rtd) as the new Coordinator of *Operation Rainbow, Plateau’s homegrown security outfit.
Gen. Yakubu replaced Brig. Gen. Gakji Shipi Goshwe (Rtd), who has been Redeployed to Safe School Programme.
Gen. Yakubu is expected to bring his 35 years of service in the Nigerian Army in the operation Rainbow security outfit of the state.
His record includes critical roles during the MASSOB and IPOB crises, peacekeeping missions in Sierra Leone and Sudan, and operations in Nigeria’s North East.
The governor has redeployed Brig. Gen. Gakji Shipi Goshwe (Rtd) to serve as Coordinator, Safe School Programme.
Gen. Shipi, a recipient of multiple military merit awards, was until now the Acting Coordinator of Operation Rainbow and also doubled as Special Adviser to the Governor on Security.
The governor also appointed Maj. Gen. Bala A. Isandu (Rtd) as his New Special Adviser (SA) on Security.
Before this appointment, Gen. Isandu served as Senior Special Assistant (SSA) on Intelligence to the Hon. Minister of Defence and as Director, Defence Intelligence Agency.
He has extensive experience in both local and international missions.
The statement explained that the appointments were “in furtherance of the Governor’s commitment to strengthening security architecture and enhancing the protection of lives and property across the State, as well as ensuring the safety and security of educational institutions.”
Mutfwang congratulated the appointees and and expressed confident in their “wealth of experience, professionalism, and dedication to service.”
The governor urged them to bring their expertise to bear by working diligently towards advancing the administration’s vision of a peaceful, secure, and prosperous Plateau State. (ephemeralnews.com.ng)
