Prominent Nigerians on Sunday graced the unveiling of Pastor Tunde Bakare’s Book, “Strategic Intervention in Governance, Volumes I, II and III, presented at the Citadel Global Community Church in Oregun, Lagos.
The public book presentation, which was chaired by a former governor of Ogun, Chief Segun Osoba, also had a former governor of Akwa Ibom, Obong Victor Attah in attendance.
Other personalities at the presentation are, Sen. Olorunnimbe Mamora, Sen. Solomon Adeola, a former governor of Ekiti, Dr Kayode Fayemi, and Pastor Jimi Odukoya of the Fountain of Life Church, Lagos.
Also at the event are Dr Joe Okei-Odumakin, Prof. Akin Oyebode, Prof. Folasade Ogunshola, Vice Chancellor of the University of Lagos, among others.
In his opening remarks, Osoba lauded Bakare for the book, describing him as a tough character, who is loyal, reliable and honest.
Osoba said the book would become a reference point for generations to come.
“When you see Bakare fighting for the nation, it is not for self. Bakare is from Ikporo, Abeokuta, Ogun. Speaking up boldly for the betterment of others is in his DNA.”
Osoba pointed out that Bakare’s book is not just to criticise but to proffer solutions to the nation’s challenges.
“When you criticise like those who call out President Bola Tinubu, also proffer solutions, that is the way forward,” Osoba said.
Reviewing the book, Elder Olabode Adekanye, described the volumes as “the voice that challenged the nation”.
He said: “Strategic Intervention on Governance is a landmark compilation of critical speeches, policy thoughts, and lived experiences in nation building by Bakare.
“The three volumes distill enduring lessons on leadership, public accountability, institutional reforms, and the architecture of sustainable developments.
“They are intended as both a reference and a call to action for public office holders, policymakers, scholars, and citizens committed to building a more effective and responsive nation.”
Presenting the book, Adeola urged leaders to do more for the people.
The senator, who represents Ogun West and also the APC 2027 governorship candidate in the state, called for patriotism and nationhood among Nigerians.
In his speech, Bakare, who was running mate to late president Muhammadu Buhari in the 2011 presidential elections under the Congress for Progressive Change, said the issues and nightmare in Nigeria will stop when leaders rise to address the challenges.
“Nation building is impossible without leadership continuity, a vision without succession eventually dies.”
He said the book is not meant to criticise but to propose the way out for generations of Nigerians.
The pastor advocated for compassion among leaders, and advised the young to sacrifice for.the nation and create opurtunities for themselves if no one would create it for them.
Bakare (PHD) pledged to donate some of the books to universities nationwide and to his Alma Mata, the University of Lagos, where he studied Law.
