Miss Glory Ineneriahbir, a serving Youth Corps Member has trained and empowered 61 Soldiers’ wives on various vocational skills in Kogi State .
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports in Lokoja on Saturday that the corps member serving with Army Day Secondary School, issued the women with certificates of completion on the training.
Speaking during the certificates presentation ceremony to the participants, who concluded the training at the Barracks in Zango Quarters, the corps member cautioned the women and other Nigerian women against idleness.
Ineneriahbir advised women and youths in the country to have something doing, in order to have something to give out to the society .
According to her, with the present economy of the country, no woman should sit down doing nothing to help her family and the society in general.
“I hope those of you who have graduated from the skill acquisition training will go ahead and train other women on what you have learned.
“Let the training not just end here. You should continue with it because it will help in your homes even if you wouldn’t sell what you produced, ” she said.
The corps member thanked the 12 Brigade Commander, Maj. Gen. A.O Fadairo for his supports towards the success of the initiative.
She expressed the hope that the training continues for the wives of the soldiers so that none of them stays idle.
“I feel so grateful ,to God and fulfilled seeing the smiles radiating on the faces of the 61 women empowered. I’m overwhelmed.
“I indeed give glory to God because my sincere love for humanity and desire to give back to the society is realized in this program.
“This because right from the orientation camp I have been praying that God should help me leave behind a legacy where ever I am posted to serve.
‘My late father used to tell me before he died that I should ensure wherever I find myself, I should leave a mark behind, ” she said.
According to her, the initiative came out in a big way because right now most women who don’t have anything doing as wives, will through her program, get something doing.
NAN reports that the skills acquisition programme was categorized under three skills; Make up, Catherine services and Soap making of which they got specialized in areas of their choices.
like make up artist, head tie tying, chin chin, egg rolls, cakes, peanuts, Liquid soap, hypo, and air freshener making.
In their respective remarks, two participants, Mrs Mary Adams and Mrs Blessing Augustine, said they were grateful to the corps member for the opportunity offered to them to learn the skills. NAN
