Mrs. Helen Mutfwang led female government stakeholders on a condolence visit to late Deputy Governor Prof. Sonni Tyoden’s residence.
Mutfwang, who visited the family on Thursday, in Jos, said the news came as a painful shock to everyone.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the former Deputy Governor of Plateau State, Prof. Sonni Tyoden, passed away at the age of 74.
Born on September 22, 1950, in Pushit District, Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State.
He was a Professor of Political Science known for his contributions to academia and public service.
Mutfwang said, “It is with heavy hearts that we are here today, we wish our visit were under more joyful circumstances, but the Lord has permitted this season.
“We are here to stand with you, to pray with you, and to remind you that you are not alone.”, Mrs Mutfwang said.
The governor’s wife said that according to the Bible that it was better to be in the house of mourning than in the house of rejoicing.
“We may not have answers to everything, but we trust that God, who knows the end from the beginning, will comfort and uphold the family,” she said.
She urged the family to hold on to God, adding that, where men may fail, God never does and that He would fill the void.
She encouraged the widow and family members to find strength in their faith, and to trust in God’s unchanging promises.
“There is not much to say, but it was important for me to be here personally to see you, to encourage you, and to share in your sorrow,” she said.
Speaking on behalf of the family, Mr Wansik Tyoden expressed gratitude to the governor’s wife and her entourage for their comforting words and condolences. NAN
