The Chairman of the University of Jos Alumni Association (UJAA), Kogi Chapter, Pharm. Samuel Omale, led a condolence visit to the residence of the late Dr. Attahdoga Obaje to sympathize with his wife and family over the painful loss of their beloved husband and father.
The delegation, which included the Secretary, Comrade Segun Medupin, the welfare secretary Mr Bayo Akingbade, and members of the association, expressed deep sorrow over the passing of the distinguished Josite on Friday in Lokoja.
Omale described the death as a great loss not only to his family but also to the University of Jos Alumni family and Kogi at large.
The chairman also said the association came to identify with the bereaved family during this period of grief and to assure them that they were not alone.
Also speaking, the Secretary of the Association, Comrade Segun Medupin, encouraged the bereaved wife to remain strong and never hesitate to reach out to the association whenever she needed support.
He assured her that the UJAA family would always be available to offer encouragement, comfort, and assistance whenever required.
Responding on behalf of the family, Dr. Vivian Obaje, wife of the deceased and a proud Josite, expressed profound appreciation to the chairman, executive members, and the entire delegation for finding time to visit and identify with the family during their moment of grief.
She noted that their presence had brought comfort and strength to the family, describing the visit as a demonstration of the love, unity, and enduring bond that exists among members.
Dr Obaje further recalled that she and her late husband were among the pioneers who helped establish the Alumni Association in Kogi many years ago.
She thanked God for the growth and continued progress of the association and expressed joy at seeing it remain active and united.
She also briefed the delegation on the burial arrangements and appealed to members of the association to grace the burial ceremonies with their presence as a final show of love and respect for her late husband.
The visit concluded with prayers offered by the Welfare Secretary. They also presented a token of support to Dr Obaje on behalf of the Chapter.
